A new instrument to characterize battery materials

The size and structure of particles are essential for the function of the anode and cathode, but these numbers are hard to measure accurately. We introduce the new PowMaster particle analyzer that can detect the mass, diameter and density of single particles. With lithium iron phosphate as an example, we show 1) how the particle structure can be resolved and 2) how the breaking off of the carbon surface treatment can be detected.
